Xamalicious Malware: Security researchers keep researching different things on the internet every day and finding flaws in them. Government agencies also work day and night for the safety of people. Meanwhile, McAfee researchers have issued a warning to Android users and appealed to the affected people to immediately remove some apps from their smartphones. Actually, researchers have found some Android apps in which malware named ‘Xamalicious’ has been found which has affected more than 3 lakh devices. This dangerous malware has been found in 14 apps available on Google Play Store which steals information by gaining access to people’s devices.
More than 1 lakh people downloaded the apps
It has been said in the report that out of the 14 affected apps, there are 3 apps which have been downloaded by more than 1 lakh people. That means the privacy of all these people has been disturbed. Although the good thing is that Google has now removed all these apps from the Play Store, but it is a matter of concern for those people who had downloaded these apps and still have them on the phone.
Delete these apps immediately
- Essential Horoscope for Android (installed by 1 lakh people)
- 3D Skin Editor for PE Minecraft (installed by 1 lakh people)
- Logo Maker Pro (installed by 1 lakh people)
- Auto Click Repeater (installed by 10,000 people)
- Count Easy Calorie Calculator (installed by 10,000 people)
- Dots: One Line Connector (installed by 10,000 people)
- Sound Volume Extender (installed by 5,000 people)
Apart from these, there are 12 apps which are affected by malware named ‘Xamalicious’ and are present on third party websites or stores. According to ANI report, these apps are in APK form and are breaking people’s privacy.
Xamalicious is an Android backdoor that integrates into apps built using the .NET Framework and the open-source Xamarin Framework. After installing the apps, this malware gains access to the accessibility service and then records things on the screen and steals data from the apps in the background.
